The Importance of follow up of Lupus Lung

Patients with Systemic Lupus and their lungs are affected by the disease, should be followed up at least monthly. Three simple tests are indicative that could be done. The first is the sedimentation rate and it gives an idea about the activity. The second is the level of the C-Reactive protein and it is an indication of presence of infection. The third is the respiratory function test and it gives an idea about the lung volumes.
Any of the three tests shows deterioration than the previous month it is an indication for chest X-ray and may be immunological tests.
Sometimes infection starts in the respiratory system and it is mild and some activity gives respiratory mild deterioration of lung function as an early sign.
